While Deere doesnt spec a backhoe for the 4100 series (light chassis) my dealer does carry one. Its made by a company called Wallenstien (out of Canada I think). Sadly it wasnt mounted on a machine but mounting looking similar to the std Deere hoe. Interestingly it doesnt operate off the tractors hydraulics but has its own pump powered off the PTO. Has anyone heard of Wallenstein or know of its quality (or lack of)?

Interesting...my dealer made it sound like only Wallenstein was making a compatible hoe.

How does the LP model mount?

I just talked to my local dealer and Deere just announced a 46 Backhoe which will be coming out in July. It apparently fits the 4100, 4110, & 4115. It doesn't fit the 4010 though. So it sounds like you can just hang on and you can get a Deere model....haven't seen it yet though.

TX16,

Do you think the backhow will fit the 2210? I just found this quote on the the JD website.

"Optional attachments for the 2210 include 54- and 62-in. mid-mount mower decks, rotary cutters, brooms, snow throwers and snow blowers, tillers, and front blades. The 2210 is also compatible with the John Deere X-Series lawn and garden implements as well as attachments for John Deere 4010, 4110 and 4115 compact utility tractors. "

Maybe the 4010 does not have enough HP to run the backhow, the 2210 has then same HP rating as the 4115. Will this be enough?

Early in my search I asked about this and was told no backhoe for the 2210. BTW the 3pt hitch on the 2210 is classed as a limited cat 1 hitch as the machine doesnt have the ground clearance to be rated otherwise. Its unclear what niche the x series and 2210 fill. Pricewise they're way out of the ballpark for their size/utility. I asked my Deere dealer about this and got a nonanswer. Id really like to know. jimg

Craig,

I asked the same thing and found out the new 46 backhoe will not fit on the 2210 or 4010. Frame is too low to the ground and the mounting hardware will not fit up. I believe those tractors are too small anyways for a backhoe. Backhoes are very hard on a compact utitly frame in general and those are good tractors for their uses but backhoe isn't one of them, in my opinion.

jimg,
The way I understand it that the X series is the upper end of the L&G market. High feature, high comfort, best suited for lots of belly mowing and for max. comfort. The 2210 is the step between the L&G series and the compact utility series. Seems to be in line pricing-wise around here.

If you hear anymore please pass it on. Will it be frame mount (I hope) or 3 pt.? Cost? etc. I have a 4110 and a BH would be great for some of the work I need to do over the next couple years. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since the 4110 is in the same class as the 4115 I think the Wallenstein would fit. However, I didnt ask about that model. From what I could tell it looks like a std Deere mount. Theres a frame which permantly attached along w/ some plates that bolt to the transmission in the back. The difference is that the Wallenstein runs off a pump powered by the PTO instead of the tractors hydraulics. Seeing as what I looked at wasnt attached to a tractor its pretty hard to tell much more.. jimg
