Backhoe Backhoe for 4310

Time to rely on the good advice of the TBN community. I've got a 4310 (yeah, I learned the lesson -- always buy more power than you think that you'll ever need and I should have actually gone bigger).
May have missed some of the discussions about this (yes I searched), but would appreciate advice on a backhoe. Won't be using it regularly, but when I need it one -- I really need one.
Would appreciate any thoughts on Kubota or other brands, connections etc.

Hi, Zozo. I've been out of town for a while and just saw your post with no replies so far, so here are a few ideas if you are still around.

The factory backhoe for your L4310 is model 4560. It's been around for several years and is a very sturdy, industrial-grade unit. I have one for my L4610 and it can do some serious work. Not cheap, though.

There are several fine units from other manufacturers. Woods 9000 and Bradco 509 are at least on par with the Kubota factory model in performance... you might save a little with them as well. Bush Hog is another good brand. There are also some other manufacturers. Not to slight any of them, I would try to choose a well-established brand so parts and service are available.

If you want a new, top of the line backhoe, be prepared to spend in the $7-9,000 for it.

If you "really need" a backhoe and intend to put it to serious use, you'll want a subframe mounting type instead of the 3pt hitch style. All the above types either require a subframe or offer it as an option. The subframe is sturdier and protects the tractor from most of the stress of backhoe operation.

If you have some time and want to save money, sometimes you can find a decent used backhoe on Ebay or some other places that sell used construction equipment. You might have to buy a new subframe kit to match your L4310 if it previously was attached to another make/model tractor.
