I'm considering the purchase of a backhoe for my TC-45. I've got some trenching to do around the barn and eventually need to run a waterline to my barn and (still to be built) workshop, so I figured it would be a good purchase.

I suspect there are several models/brands out there. Any advice?

Thanks,
Matt

I've got a 2120 NH, from what I've gathered here about the same physical size and slightly less hp than yours, and I went with the NH 758C. If you decide on NH, for the extra $600, I would get it over the 757C. After putting it thru it's paces for 150 hours, I think it could handle the 759 ok. I have pulled stumps, dug out boulders, picked up the machine and moved it around, and the unit held up fine. No problem with bending the bucket cylinder by applying to much pressure, as I've seen happen, and read about here, with other units. From my shopping around, the Bushhog model is one that appears to be very sturdy, also.

Tom,

With the backhoe setup you have, what do you need in the way of hydraulics to run that?

Also, is it easy to attach/remove?

Thanks,
Matt

It just plugs into my rear remotes. I usually keep the rpms around 1500. It's a snap to remove and replace. You back up to it, plug in the hydraulics, lift it up with the outriggers, back up until it fits into place on the receiver bolted to where the drawbar was(had to be removed). Then fiddle with the outriggers and backhoe to get the holes on the subframe lined up with the brackets bolted to the tractor, then pound the pins in. I was able to leave the three point arms on my tractor also. Just have to watch the height when installing the bh. I just bought a Vreten stone rake last week. Had some fun today sorting rocks and making topsoil. Loosen it up with the backhoe, then scoop, shake and sift with the rake. It's the cat's meow for moving firewood too.
