The two pistons that turn the hoe side to side leak when they are near they're maximum limit. They leak where the piston comes out of the cylinder. Right from the holes that are in the metal seal area. Is this nomal?

When you say leak do you mean running or just wet?
It is not normal to have a leak there
How many hours does the machine have on it?
Some cylinders have a set screw holding the ends on some have a big threaded nut.and some have a big C clip make sure they are tight.
Also check for damage on the chrome part that may result in tearing the seals.

The leak isn't coming from around the seal but right out of the hole. It gushes right out. I'll have to look at it closer tonight.
Thank you for your reply.

One of my cylinders seems to be leaking around the same spot. I called it into my dealer 2 days before the warrantee went out on the backhoe and I was told if I didn’t get it too them right then I wouldn't get it covered 100hrs (now 130hrs). So now I am out of luck and just letting it happen until winter when I can take it off and have the cylinder rebuilt. I asked about the extended warrantee also but never got a final word on it. So I will just deal with it myself until winter. I don't know that mine is leaking a ton from this location but it leaves a spot on the trailer every time and it gets super dirty on the cylinder every time I work due to it leaking.

Here's a pic of the cyl. end. It leaks out the hole. Seems to me that it's some kind of a relief port maybe?

That cylinder looks very rough and old.

Take it and get it fixed at any hyd. shop!!!

The backhoe warranty is one year, not 100 hours. The backhoe does not have an hour meter. If you're talking about the swing boom cylinders, they are on the backhoe, not the tractor and should be covered for one year from purchase.

You have a seal that is out. As said above, take it to any hydraulic shop and they will be able to fix you up.

I called it into my dealer 2 days before the warrantee went out..... only 100 hours on the tractor at the time but still 2 days prior to the warrantee running out.

Is there a rebuild kit that I could install myself? Also, if I took it somewhere to be fixed, is it that generic that they would have the parts in stock?
Thanks for the replies
