When to attach my backhoe and noticed that the red band on the hose conector was gone , only one of the hose was marked. Since there is only two hoses I had a 50/50 chance in making the right connection to the tractor. My question is, does it matter which hose goes to where? after I made the connection I used the backhoe and everything seems ok.

It does matter. It looks like you guessed right. I would mark those hoses before taking them off so that you don't have to guess the next time.

As Mad says, it does matter which hoses are connected but it will not hurt the backhoe to do it backwards....you will just find that the controls are opposite...up is down and down is up etc. So, take your best guess and then carefully try it out. Easy to correct if you guess wrong.

I don't think so. That applies to the valve spool work ports only. The inlet and outlet on the valve block itself need to be connected to the tractor correctly.

I won't argue. I haven't done it myself but I know that with the rear remote valve, as you indicate, if you turn it the wrong way you simply get reversed functions.

I guess I should clarify myself. If you are connecting your backhoe to a set of standard lever operated rear remotes that are either held open with a bungie cord or with a detent, then reversing the connections will require the remote lever to be in the proper position so that the flow out of the remote work port goes into the backhoe valve block's inlet port.

If you are connecting the backhoe to a power beyond connection then the pressure connection (ie flow from the tractor) must be connected to the backhoe valve block's inlet.

Nothing will be harmed, in fact I can reverse the flow at the rear hydraulic outlets by the hydraulic engagement lever in the cockpit. I prefer to keep them as installed to be standardized in where the lever is placed to make the backhoe functional.

One more thing, depending on the backhoe valve block design, if the backhoe valve block has a pressure relief valve then the inlet to that valve block must be connected to the pressure side of the tractor flow.
