backhoe prices?

I have a 4520 powereverser jd and was thinking about purchasing a backhoe
for it and was wondering what I could expect price wise.Also do they require rear mounted hydraulic ports or do you use the front end loaders? And how easy it to take the hoe off and on? thanks

MSRP is easy to find on the JD sight under "build your own". You will need to have power beyond installed on your tractor.

I just picked up a 447 yesterday for $5900 (uninstalled)including the power beyond kit ,which you also will need (no it is not run from loader outlets,needs full hydraulic flow from pump).Your going to need a 448 for your tractor so you should count on spending about $1000 more than I did and add about another $300 for install.

I was looking at the Taylor-way BH because of price ,but my wife made me buy the JD 8b "What a good wife I have".


I upgraded my tractor from a 790 to a 990

I just bought a used JD8B Backhoe for my JD990. The tractor it was set up for was stolen and never recovered so the guy sold me the backhoe attachment with sub-frame. The only thing is I have to buy the tractor mounts ($1085.00 for entire install kit and sub- frame). Brackets individually are more than that with no hardware. I have already started dreaming about using the second frame mount for something. I think I will build a stump grinder or wood chipper to mount on it. Who knows maybe the JD Dealer will buy back all the parts I do not need. (Maybe I am dreaming now!)

The JD 448 hoe is a very stout rig. Good power, durable, & a decent overall design. But defiantely take a look at the new Woods 90-X backhoe. The woods backhoes typically have a bit more hydraulic strength, detach quicker and easier, AND they have an option for a factory installed mechanical thumb for about $900. And in many cases Woods is a couple hundred bucks less than a JD.
