I'm looking into purchasing a backhoe for my ck30 tractor. Dealer gave me a price of 7000 out the door. How does this price compare to others? My other question is how good does it work on a small tractor like I have? I don't want to buy this and find out that its slow or not powerful enough for digging holes. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

It is not going to be anything like a regular backhoe. What type of digging do you need to do?

What is the hydraulic flow (GPM) available for the backhoe? 9 GPH will provide a reasonable movement speed. Look at the backhoe specifications to get an idea of abilities. I have a similar size tractor/backhoe combination (Kubota and Kitoi are close spec wise) and I've never found a need for more power, sometimes just a different approach to the problem.

If the $7K includes the sub-frame mount, bucket, and installation, the price seems inline with what I paid a few years ago. I am assuming your dealer is providing you with a Kitoi backhoe.

I'm looking to install some new drain tile new the foundation. I don't expect to dig out stumps or anything like that. I just want to make sure that it wouldn't be a slow unit.
Monster, I'm looking at the kb2475 Kioti backhoe. I looked on the kioti website and I couldn't find the hydraulic flow for the unit. $7K is everything including tax. I've seen some that are 3 point hitch but I'm kinda unsure about that. Seems like it would put a lot of stress on the 3 point.

The Kioti web site (CK30 Compact Tractor | Kioti Tractors) indicates the CK30 has a total hydraulic pump flow of 12.7 GPM, subtract from that 3 GPM for the power steering and you have close to 9 GPM available for the backhoe, typical for this size of tractor and about the same as mine. I have no idea what your expectations are but I am fine with my backhoe movement speeds. The specifications on the backhoe's digging force are also in line with mine so you will find the limiting factor is your tractor's weight when digging, the backhoe curl will lift the tractor up forcing you to take smaller bites. I have also discovered that the minimum width for a bucket is 16", anything smaller and the dirt sticks inside the bucket making it difficult to empty. This may be the type of soil I dig in which is mostly clay and sand clay.

Don't know how the Kitoi's backhoe controls work, mine are feathered and allow multiple movements, something you could discuss with your dealer.

Don't sound bad, I paid 7750 for a woods bh6000 with subframe and thumb installed. There supposed to get it put on in a few weeks when I get home from my hitch here at work. That was without the pto, my 4200 had the hydraulic hookups already. That price includes the 300 they charge to put it on. LUTT

I can tell you that I had the smaller 2465 on the CK20s I used to have and it worked just fine; in fact, it was extremely powerful for a small BH. The price you are getting is a pretty fair price and is inline w/ what I paid quite a few years ago.

I don't think you are going to be disappointed in the speed, given the flow that you have on your CK30, in fact I have heard that most new backhoe user's complaints are that it takes them time to learn how to feather the controls so that the backhoe does not move too fast. Of course you can always throttle back the engine to slow things down.

For that purpose you should be fine. If you were going be doing serious digging (excavating for a basement, etc.) I would not advise it. But for drain tile and general maintenance digging you should be fine.

You are wise to stay away from a 3 pt mount. Frame mount is the way to go.

I have a CK25 with a bushhog brand 7.5' hoe with an 18" bucket. I have loaded tires and homemade cleats for the outriggers. My hoe is very fast, even at low RPMs. It is plenty powerful too. My dealer pointed out at time of delivery that he installed rear remotes with 1/2" lines and said some used smaller lines to the remotes and that slowed performance. The CKs has the best flow in their class. Fill your tires, install good plumbing, add some bigfoot pads, and you won't be disappointed. Price is about right $1K per foot. Get two buckets, one small one for ditching, and a bigger one for other needs. BTW, you can remove stumps, even big ones, but it takes a while.
