Hey guys just out of curiosity does anyone have an ingenuous way of removing the backhoe attachment. I think I remember seeing somewhere a person had placed them on small dollies to move them around after being removed from the tractor. I have not taken mine off yet and was just wondering..

Thanks,

Caleb

Practice it gets easier every time just try to put it on a hard level surface

I put a block under the tractor end of the BH frame to keep it off the ground, (hyd leak down). When re-installing, the tractor end is still slightly off the ground, "about" the right height to ease the alignment job.

Assuming you have the chassis mount back hoe.
1. Lower the stabilizer arms to contact the ground but not lift the tractor.
2. Extend the backhoe and bring it down to rest on the ground with the bucket curled in. This makes a tripod and stabilizes the backhoe independent of the tractor.
3. Pull out the lynch pins holding the backhoe assembly to the frame bracket
4. Gently ease the tractor forward until the backhoe is free from the chassis mounts. Be careful not to exceed the slack in the hydraulic lines.
5. Put blocks under the backhoe frame or lower it to the ground
6. Disconnect hydraulic lines, and Bob's your uncle.

You're welcome. I have to admit though, it's basically the procedure outlined in the owner's manual, so I can take no credit for coming up with it myself.

I borrowed the "Bob's your uncle" line also

It's not so much getting it off as it is getting it back on that a dolly makes the job a whole lot easier. Most folks build their own as I did but a few are lucky enough to be able to buy one for their hoe. As I have done it both ways, a dolly makes a world of difference so I suggest you build or buy one for yourself even if you have to make it yourself. There are lots of ideas on this site as to which direction to take in building your own but they vary as to the particulars of your hoe. It took me a couple of tries before I got the geometry worked out just right for mine.

Just one more important step, between steps 5 and 6, shut down the tractor and relieve pressure in all hydraulic lines by moving control levers in all directions.

I realize nobody likes reading manuals but with big boy toys it's best we do....
