As I seem to be using my KB2485 more I wondering if there is any routine maintenance or things to watch out for besides just greasing I should be performing? Plus I知 wonder what people are using for grease? As mx5guy note in another thread, I also have the same challenge greasing the arm side-to-side pivot pins. About 10 days ago I was able grease the top and bottom pins with a couple pumps fine. Yesterday I could not get just one pump into the top pin

lots of grease, I use moly grease from TSC. I would also keep an eye on bolt tightness, especially subframe to tractor bolts. A little lube on the control linkage might be good too.

I hope you store your backhoe under a roof. Even if you are not able to keep your machine out of the weather or the backhoe sits a long time in between usage, keep all your hydraulic parts shiny and cleaned with a rust preventative.

Keep those stupid subframe bolts tight!
If you push the bucket to the ground and the backhoe moves more than a inch or 2 before it lifts the tractor up tighten up those 8 big bolts that are under yoyr feet.

Those same bolts come lose on my KB2375 from time to time. I'm going to try locktight the next time they need tightened but that may not even work considering the forces the bh puts on them. Other than that, lots of grease to blow out any dirt or moisture. All of my zerks take grease but if one didn't, I definately be finding the problem. Members have mentioned fluid film for the hyd pistons when sitting. I just coat them with the same grease I use on the zerks. A little messy but it works.

Mmm, good rationale to purchase a larger socket set. Got to love those tools!

Yep, a new 12x28x11 barn style shelter. It's beside my electrical pole so it has power, plenty of lights and on an elevated gravel base. Add a concrete floor would make it perfect. My wife did the mistake of saying she likes the look of it and that I should get another one to hide all those implements. :) The problem is I realize with several implement in a long shelter I would need a chain hoist to move the implement to the front of the shelter to get at the implement with the tractor. And since I just placed an order for another attachment, a Gator Grapple I will need a long shelter to hide everything. I hope to recieve the grapple next week.

Here is a picture of my new 28' square pole barn complete with 9' doors and concrete floor including drive approach. This land including road back for my CK20 and attachments was cleared from my heavily mature wooded land. 0f course that included removal of dozens of tree stumps and fill all done with the little ck and it's backhoe attachment.

Rather than a chain hoist to move my snow blower or backhoe around while unattached and stored, I just set them on top of those four wheel furniture dolly's. They are about $20 each at HD or Lowe's. That stuff wheels out of the way easily that way.

Nice. Long term I prefer a similar storage solution, but I can't build a permanent building in my current location. I need to clear more land.

Hey Wallace, did your trick to check the subframe bolts and notice something else. How much play is normal for the top side to side pivot pin?
