Last year I bought a Woods BH80X to use with my MF1533. I've had a million things going on and finally got a chance to assemble the backhoe last week and start using it. I love the thing but need to figure out a good way to store it. The manual mentions setting it on blocks but I was thinking that a big dolly might make it easier to move around and also easier to get it aligned with the tractor when putting it back on. Those of you that have backhoe attachments how to do you store yours?

Sorry, double post

I try dropping mine of pallets to keep it out of the soil, and then use some 4"x4"'s to block the rest of the attachment that goes under the tractor.

The more time i take taking it off makes it that much easier going back on. Last time I was able to back right into it put in the pin and connect the pump and off I went in minutes.

I have a BH80X as well and store it in a lean-to. I set in on a sheet of plywood to keep it out of the dirt. I put a couple of blocks under the bucket.

The first (and only time so far) that I hooked up to the backhoe it was a real pain to get the tractor aligned with it well enough to connect to the subframe. At that time the mounting brackets were left loose like the instructions said to do so it could be aligned with the subframe on the tractor prior to tightening / torqueing the bolts that attach the mounting brackets to the backhoe. Now that I've done that it might be easier to install the backhoe the next time around, I'll have to see. I was thinking that keeping it on a dolly would allow you to move it around some and help with getting it aligned with the tractor / subframe. Those of you that keep your backhoes on a dolly, does it help any with putting it on the tractor and taking it off?

Dear Sir
I am storing a John Deere 46 backhoe on a steel push cart in my shop. The Subframe is a bolt on, the cart needs to be around 6.5 feet long for my machine and as it is a project that is 90% complete, I have moved the cart and the subframe around everywhere. The subframe is being slung under a 26 Hp kubota. Pics to follow when I get the pump powered off of the mid PTO.

Mine is under the overhang of my barn,,,on a few 6by6's... If you are lucky enough to keep it inside on a cement floor I would build a platform for it with wheels so you can tuck it in a corner somewhere,,, Mine goes off and on in about 5 min,,

Thanks for the ideas everyone.
It did drive me nuts not being able to set it up as soon as I got it. I bought it last August and the plan was to start putting it together the day after I brought it home. Well it was just my luck that we had a storm come through and tear some of our roof off. I needed to do the rest of the roof anyway so that project took priority over the backhoe. Then we had a baby on the way in the middle of all of that. It drove me crazy every time I went out to the shop building and saw the backhoe parts strapped to the pallet. I was really anxious to get it put together and ready to use. I've got lots of projects lined up for it so I'll be keeping it busy this summer.
