Backhoe Subframe

I have an opportunity to purchase a Bush Hog 1000H 3 Pt Hitch mount backhoe at a good price. I know the hoe is a bit large for the tractor (Century 3035 - Branson 3520), but the price is right and if I can build a subframe I would be less concerned about damaging the tractor as I know the tractor is stoutly built for being a CUT. Are subframes standard for the tractor model or the tractor/backhoe package? Anybody build their own subframe? Any thoughts concerning the size of the hoe for the tractor?

I can't tell from the pics I found. Is it tractor supplied hydraulic power or PTO? That would be a possible concern. Whether or not your tractor hos enough juice in the bank to run it. A sub-frame would be the only way to go. If you can find a sub-frame for your unit and mod it, that would keep from having to reinvent the wheel. Good luck. B.

The subframe is specific to the tractor.

Is the 1000H a 10' reach model? That's larger than the largest BH Branson sells. I think you're really going to need a subframe.

Unless the 1000H has much larger cylinders than my 760, you could run it just fine on the tractor's hydraulics.

I converted a 3 pt backhoe to subframe mount. I used 2 pcs of 4" channel running under the rear end. It is mounted to plates bolted to the OEM tabs on the rear of the roll cage supports and on the belly mower mounts up front. There is a triangulating brace over the top of the axle housing from the OEM rear tab to the channel. This setup transfers more force to the frame instead of the housing. This stays on the tractor all of the time.

There is a second "mounting frame" that bolts to the rear of the subframe mounting plate. This frame supports the backhoe at all 3 of its mounting points. I can mount the backhoe in about 15 min and only have to remove the 3 pt hitch supports. The arms themselves are then rotated to a vertical position out of the way.

I have some pics but posting them is apparently more difficult than building the subframe.

OP,
Cool, that takes the load off of your tractors hydraulics to run the hoe. I would try and a find a factory backhoe sub-frame for your unit. If so, then it would be easier to adapt the bush hog hoe to your tractor sub-frame. As opposed to creating the entire sub-frame from scratch. B.

Anyone have suggestions on where to find a backhoe subframe for an older tractor? Being as this is a Century with the C-System 50 FEL I don't know if a Branson subframe will work with the FEL. Hopefully minor modifications to make one work. Anyone know if the newer Branson model subframes would be a close fit?

You need a subframe to keep from breaking tractor in half at the bellhousing.
I bought this Hoe new and made a subframe for it. I don't have pics of it.
Also you are better off using the tractor hydraulics, I only run my 3510 at 12-1400 RPM and have plenty of power.

StimW or anyone else with a ho-made subframe care to elaborate? Do you have any more specific pictures or care to be a bit more specific with your build? I really want to get a backhoe on my tractor but I WILL NOT run one without a subframe. I have decent enough welding skills and would be able to modify an old subframe or build a new one. Can you give me a better idea on attachment points to tractor, what the subframe looks like where it meets the back hoe?
