I've been all over the internet and read threads, prior discussion here and other forums and still not sure what to do. I'm looking at Woods new backhoes 70 or 80 both use the same subframe which I will purchase. Backhoe on ebay-BH75 which states is slightly used. About same price as 70 and slightly less that 80, if nobody else bids. Shipping will be about same for Woods and assume shipping from Florida couple hundred more. All that aside which is the best all round hoe. My usage will be on my 30 acres removing stumps, digging holes to bury, and misc. trenching drainage, Do not expect to do commercial type work but also want best hoe for resale. I'm leaning toward the 80 just because only 500 more than 70 or BH75 and would think it would keep it's resale best. My tractor a B7800 and the 80 I believe is the biggest hoe it will take. Does that create a problem? Any thoughts comments would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I'll tell you right up front I have never seen a Kubota BH75. But I do own a Woods BH80-X and I certainly would not pay close to the new Woods price for used (without warranty) anything else. Used equipment needs to be discounted from new or it is overpriced. I am very happy witrh my Woods hoe, and I bet you will be, too.

Bigger is not always better. The b7800 is under 2000# naked, and that
is important. The bigger of the 2 you mention (BH80X and BH75) have
been mounted to the small B, but I think the lighter unit is better suited for
it. Go for the BH70-X. Reports are that all 3 units are fine hoes, but I have
not owned any of them.

100_0263.jpg Wood's make great things, real strong and there backhoes are up to snuff. That being said Kubota engineers everything to match to there tractors, FEL's, MMM's, backhoes. The in-closed picture is my B3200 TLB with the new BH76:thumbsup:. Real strong hoe, but I'm not surprised because this is my second Kubota TLB that I've own.I would stay with the Kubota backhoe if it were me,makes sense to keep everything Kubota on tractor. Think of a Ford truck with a Chevy transmission. And the good thing is It's already orange.

I have the BH75A on my L2800 and have used it quite a bit. I haven't dug any 8 foot holes but have dug some trenches and find that every 5 or 6 feet you have to reposition the tractor. The reach difference between the Woods 80 and the Kubota hoe is not enough to make any difference at the end of the day. I believe Woods make good products and if it's better or worse than the Kubota hoe I wouldn't know. I only have the Kubota and cannot compare it to something I have no experience with. That said I am totally satisfied with the BH75 and would certainly buy it again. Should someone wanted to trade me a Woods 80 for it, don't bother asking. My 2800 at 2600 pounds plus front end loader is about as light as I'd want with the hoe. I wouldn't put an 8 foot hoe on a B7800 tractor.
I do understand, and may be wrong, that Kubota strengthened the 75 and called it a 75a. Mine is the (a) but the decal is still BH75. The data plate located on the frame under the left foot pad shows it as BH75A. If I bought a used one, it would only be the 75A.

appreciate thought and discussion. Would welcome any additional comments. I like the bigger not always better as my tendency would be to buy bigger since cost difference is only about 500 bucks. Priced new Kubota Bh76 and was quoted 7500 for loader and subframe--no thumb. Seems to be pretty much in line with what expected--a little higher than the woods Bh80. From prior threads doesn't appear that installation that hard so buying from non-local wouldn't make that much difference? For those that have purchased from dealer did they charge for installation or part of deal? What was the charge? Thanks for help.

The size discussion doesn't take into account that the Kubota hoe sits much closer to the tractor, and results in a much better balanced set up. You can easily see the difference when the two are side by side. A B7800 with the BH75 sits level, and almost perky, while the same tractor with the Woods backhoe will sit lower in the rear. Now for some applications like fitting a backhoe to a cabbed tractor, or to one like the older B7510's, etc. where the option was a 3pt backhoe, the Woods units are perfect, and I would buy one in a minute, but if Kubota makes a 4 point mount quick detachable backhoe for the model tractor you have, I would choose that first every time.

One other thing you may consider is loading the tractor on and off a trailer. The backhoe may scrape the ground (or pavement) while driving it on and off, They do stick out and are low to the ground. I put two boards on the trailer ramps to lessen the approach angle. This is another reason I went with the Kubota hoe. It sticks out, but not as much.
I looked all over for a good deal here or a good deal there. Looked at different brands, different places, Ebay, you name it. In the end I just ordered it all from my local dealer. Cost wasn't bad, but had to pay tax and shipping. I had one serious leak after a few hours of use. Turns out it was a hydraulic line 90 degree end fitting, buried under structure and a lot of other lines. A job I didn't want to do. Dealer was happy to repair it under warranty.
Perhaps RickB put it best when he wrote "It still doesn't make sense to me to pay new price for a used machine."
