The lines on the right are the in and out, not sure if the top would be the in or out. Thanks

Also what would happen if I got it the wrong way round. Would everything just work backwards?

The return runs at a lower pressure, it might be larger.
Is there anything inline on one of the hoses?
Bradco puts an inline filter on the supply hose.

Well those 2 hoses have quick connectors on the end of them that the guy I bought it off had connected to his tractor. All the other lines run to the cylinders.

Think you’ll find out it’s the bottom line , but you need to verify that before hooking up.

Ok I think I figured it out. It's has an let model number so I found a PDF manual for it. Guess it's the bottom one. Shows this:

Also the top one has a some sort of adjustment screw.

Where the relief valve is doesnt always mean thats the inlet. So NEVER use that as a guide.

Based on your PDF, yes I'd say bottom is inlet from pump.

But does this backhoe have its own pump? or are you hooking it to remotes?

If you get them backwards, you will likely blow out the spool seals where the spools come out of the casting. And not rated for full system pressure. Same thing happens if someone tries to run something PB but uses tank port instead.

Might need to take hoses off, or get a mirror or something, but most valves have letters cast into the body to indicate which port is which. P for Pressure (pump inlet), and T for Tank (return) are the normal markings.
