Hello, I'm back with a pic of our latest project where we made extensive use of our new "Bota".

We removed the old wrap around deck (cut into 12' x 12' sections) and brought in almost 200 yards of various materials to get a gentle slope for the back yard and create the sidewalk base. 2400 pavers later, this is what it looks like now, also added the fire pit, retaining wall and concrete approach. We will seed in the spring and add schrubs and flowers but, it has already made a dramatic difference in the way our backyard looks and functions.

Beautiful work! Nice design and layout as well. Is that snow along the edge though??? How long did all of this take?

Thank you all for your kudos!

DIYGuy - yep, lots of days spent cutting pavers, I now have tennis elbow in both arms to remind me just how many I cut and shaped with a masonry wheel. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif The raised patio area is dry-set and the nose pavers have been glued to underlying retaining blocks.

RobS - yes, it's snow, we recieved our first couple of inches early this week and high temps are holding around freezing now. We spent most of our summer weekends working on this project (we = my wife & I). She set most of the full pavers and I worked on the cuts/details and also the base work.

Base work included removal of top 18" and replacing with 18" to 24" of shell rock followed by about 6" of hi-fines granite base. After compacting, I shaved the granite to get a nice contour and slope. Pavers are set on thin layer of sand and compacted. We also used plastic brick edge to hold the pavers in place.
