bad float style gas sending unit in kaw. mule

has anyone had any luck changing out the float style sending unit with some sort of gauge that can be mounted on the dash? Is there anywhere to order that sending unit that is mounted on the tank without going through kawasaki?

What's wrong with it? Or do you just not like it?

My mom's gauge stuck at 1/2 tank when new. Took it apart and filed the slot a bit and works fine now.

I also took it out and tried to do a repair but the plastic was so soft it came apart. Really don't like location of the gauge, just wondering if anyone had come up with a better mousetrap.
