Hello,

Just registered, but found this site to be an excellent source of repair information. Thank you all for your tremendous knowledge. :)

Because of this I was able to troubleshoot my GX345 and found I have a bad fuel solenoid.

To enable my tractor to continue to run I cut off the plunger on the solenoid and the tractor works good again.

My question is can I cause any damage to the carb by essentially bypassing the solenoid and not allowing the fuel to shut off when I turn off the tractor?

Once again thanks again for the invaluable source of repair and troubleshooting methods that I have found here.

Welcome to TBN!

I'll speculate that it may backfire when you turn it off. This can eventually shear the flywheel/crankshaft key, which will cause major problems. I'll speculate even more that to minimize backfiring, turn down the throttle, all the way to lowest idle, before turning it off.

There's more than a few folks on here, who know what they're talking about, who will correct me if I'm way off.

Thanks!

This is a temp fix until I can find another solenoid.

Shocking to see how much it costs for this small part! Almost as cheap to get another carb.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day Weekend!
