Baling Wheat straw

Here's a photo of my Kubota M7040 baling Wheat straw with my JD 347 sq baler. A 30 ft combine header makes for a big straw windrow!!!

How many strawbales do you bale. What do you do with them.

My nephew needed about 300 bales for bedding for his daughters & friends children's 4H show animals. The remainder of the straw will be large sq baled by combine owner and sold to Mushroom grower.

Brings back memories, I bucked a whole lot of hay bales growing up and bucking straw got us the same 1c per bale as the heavy hay; almost not like work.

Well... there was enough moisture for wheat! Gonna be enough for hay, too?? If you're takin' the pictures; who's working the tractor/baler? Wheat straw and mushrooms... do they grow right out the sides of the bale - like those pieces of wood?

My nephew was driving tractor because he wanted the straw for bedding for his and neighbors children to use with 4H show animals. I don't drive my tractors as much as I'd like to as I'm now disabled from permanent nerve damage. On the mushroom growing Campbells has a large mushroom growing plant 30 miles south of me. They grind the hay plus other additives to grow the mushrooms in.

We have several buyers in our area. Depending on the demand, they usually buy every year and it’s mainly used for erosion control. Just about everyone is baling their straw this year. Sold mine for $25 a bale (4x6) and they picked it up.

Sorry to hear that you don't get as much seat time as you used to... another signpost to remind us all - don't take anything for granted!! I'll be... don't know puff about mushrooms!
