Well the new toy should be getting delivered on Thursday, I can't wait.
Does anyone have a design or suggestions for a ballast box? Need to start using the FEL as soon as it arrives and want it to be balanced.
Thanks

I finally got by my tires filled. If you buy a ballast box they are not cheap, and are hanging of the back and get in the way in tight places. If you plan on driving across lawns and or mowing with it, you may want something you can remove when doing those chores.

Hi Ed and congratulations on your new ck 20. I just bought one last month and am finding it a very nice machine. What are lifting? Why don't you wait and see what it feels like with out ballast? In the same DIY section IXLR8 mentioned, there was also a post where someone filled a 55 gal plastic drum with concrete and installed lift pins through it. This might be a more fitting size for the ck20? I think concrete is around 150lb/ft3. You could always partially fill it to achieve the amount of ballast you require. Just a thought...

Thanks for the suggestions, I will be using it with out the ballast box at first to see how it feels, and I am sure I will be building one soon.

Be very careful using the FEL without ballest! My rears are filled and I carry a BB. The manual says 600lbs for ballest when using the loader. I picked up a bucket full of topsoil and almost tipped her over. I had done been doing this the same way with no problems, I guess I got a bigger load or the moisture content was different not really sure but I was to the point of jumping when she stopped. There I was hanging off the side keeping the girl on all fours. Just be careful....

I'll second the warning about using the FEL to lift much without some sort of ballast on the CK20. The loader is quite powerful and it is easy to lift the rear wheels off the ground or to carry a load that will make driving unsafe (unless properly ballasted). I had loaded tires and usually kept my 500lb bush hog or BH on the tractor as additional ballast.
