Hello all
I am having a problem with my YM1500 spinning it's rear tires in the soft dirt here and I was wondering if ballasting the tires would help. It seems to me that it would but I would like a 2nd opinion on the subject. I have the standard 4" lug rice tires and they dig holes better then my loader does.
Now is there an easy way to get the mix into the tires? Or am I left to my own devices?
Any help at all would be a benefit to me and thanks for all the past help.
I am learning to love my little grey.

Bear,

Curious? What type of implements are attached to your tractor?
Does your tractor lose traction with or without attachments?

Like Mark777 said, you need counter weight on the rear of the tractor, it will help for ballast and for traction. I had a YM1500D with a loader and always kept a 4ft heavy duty LS box on the rear of the tractor. You said ( 4" lug rice tires and they dig holes better then my loader does.
) . Are you trying to dig or scoop loose material. If you are scooping the counter weight on the rear will reduce the wheel spin significally, but when breaking new ground you will still get a lot of wheel spin.

Hey Ya'll thanks for the reply
I am not working with any equipment on the rear as yet however that may change after tax time. For now I really don't wish to carry
barrel of water or cement around all the time even though I may have to. I get the Idea from you all that ballast would be good for my traction problem. I live 100 miles from anywhere and wheel weights are not plentyfull around here as there are only 1 yanmar and 2 kobota's that I know of nearby and lots of JD's. So with all that said any easier ideas of how to add a water mix to the tires??
Thanks again.

Hey tractors4u
the ground around here is loose and I an just trying to drive through it and maybe scoop & drag it around with my FEL
It's just that if I get in a bind or in loose soil my tires dig holes better then a post hole digger. I can dig myself down to my axels in a heartbeat. Just fun stuff you know??

Here is how one person does it. I don't mean to be smart but if you click on search above and search all forums, dates etc. you can usually get flooded with info.

Hey Mark S.
Thanks so much for that post. I tried to search but I guess I was not using the right key words because it came back with a blank
I was planing on using a water/antifreeze mix. as we do get into the teens here in the Hi desert of Nevada.
Have a great day and thanks again.
