Price Check Ballpark price for used JD46 backhoe

I see a local dealer has a used 4110 (I think that's the model) with a 46 backhoe. The tractor has about 500 hours - the hoe looks like it's been used, but not abused.

What would you offer? Am I dreaming to think $2500 would buy it?

The 46bh is approx $5500 to $6000 new, plus the power beyond kit. I'd figure approx 75% for used.

I bought a #7 hoe that fits my 790 tractor. I used it over a years time which was 50-60 actual hours use. The original price was $6500 including the power beyond parts and installation. I listed it on Craigs list this past week and sold it for $4000 cash quickly. It is in great shape with low hours usage.

Mentally I backed out $500-700 for the power beyond and the sales price I got for a quick sale would be about 70% of new. I probably could have held out a longer time and got a few hundred dollars more. But, time is money and taking 187 phone calls over a months time is worth something.

Expect to pay about 70-75% like gunmaker said. Unless you have the power beyond already, plan that into your budget. If the 46 is about the same price, then plan on $4000 for one in great shape and less if it has seen a lot of hours or abuse. Don't buy it without a digging demo and about the only thing to look for would be obvious damage and leaks. There should be NO LEAKS. Test all functions and move something heavy with it. I think a dealer can run the serial number and tell you exactly when it was made and when and where it was sold to the original purchaser.

Thanks, Gordon. I'll offer $3000, considering your pricing, its the condition (it's far from "great shape") and the fact I need the power beyond kit.

Too bad you are in Vermont. My 46BH is practically brand new. I dug two holes in soft black dirt, moved a couple small b&b trees into those holes and replaced the culvert in my drive. Since those 10-15 hours of use, it has been sitting in a shed for almost two years. Been thinking about selling it to save some space. Barely scratched the paint on the 13" bucket.

Maybe I will get it out again this summer to do some "weeding". I've got some buckthorn invading the woods out back and the backhoe will be able to grab those suckers outta there!

Are you thinking of putting the 46 hoe on you Kubota BX? It won't fit.

I really need to update my handle... I sold the BX and bought a JD 2320.

Looks like I made the first mistake that many other people seem to make about tractors - giving themselves the same 'name' as their tractor on tractorbynet! Everyone comes to learn, after a while, that they're bound to upgrade someday.
