I'm now in the process of shutting down my third local bank account. The first just flat out lied more than once. One person would tell me something when I asked how to do something and when I went to follow through, another person would tell me 'no, that isn't true, we don't do that'. The second applied hidden fees. They refused to disclose them openly, or even in their published fee schedules. You didn't see them until you were logged in and went to complete a certain task like a transfer. Then, and only then would you see that you would be charged. Repeated complaints yielded nothing, not even an admission of the error.

Now, this third one openly states they don't really care about what customers want and don't care if they leave. Also found out they share account information with third parties.

I've used Chase, USAA, CitiBank and Synchrony among others and while they all have their faults, you can usually work with them. But these local fools just don't care. And don't talk to me about Credit Unions either. I've looked at them and their fees, rates and account conditions are ridiculous.

Hate to ask, but exactly what happened per the lying?

Honestly, when I moved around a lot as a young adult and growing up, added with the last 15 years with the same bank, seems I never had the soap opera you have.

If you actually have money to deposit in the bank, not certain what the "hidden fees" are?

Join a credit union Maybe??Been with my CU for 42 plus years great experience..

Never had a single fee from my Credit Union. Been with them since the mid 90's. Even when I was not working (in school) and thus did not have direct deposit, not a single fee.... unless I used an out of network ATM. Of course that fact was disclosed by the ATM so I knew of the fee.

If you have a CU charging lots of fees you have the wrong CU.

Or you could invest in bitcoin?

Haven't banked at a bank in 30 years. When I did I was on a first name basis with my loan officer. Since he retired or moved on without notice I have been at a credit union. We have two different credit union accounts and pay no fees at either.

Credit Union all the way. Lower loan rates, better interest on deposits. In 30 year I've never had a fee I can remember. My CU belongs to a network that has 26,000 ATMs, not that I use cash much, but free ATMs throughout North America. You are one of the owners.
