Yes that is right on with what I am considering. I checked one out and found the rates to be competitive but not super. But I will definitely consider that option,
Just to clarify my original post. This isn't new depositor money its a renewal. And Ive been with this bank for 20 plus years. I didnt 'gloat' when they were seeking my money, offering all kinds of perks ,back a few years, no I don't need to have it rubbed in my nose that they don't need my money anymore.

There are lots of smaller banks who didn't get involved in sub-prime lending that are doing just fine.

You have to be right because they're building new banks on almost every corner around here.

Uh, why is this in tractor buying?

Anyway, higher interest rates on deposits often mean the bank is more eager to get deposits so it can lend out - or bolster its required capital base. It doesn't matter much with FDIC insurance (unless your account is over $250k, which isn't a problem for most of us) but something to keep in mind.

I don't know, maybe because when I go tractor or farm equipment shopping, I tend to look at cash and credit. And both those tenders seem to be holed up at or by a bank.

The bigger picture I am sure we all see, the banks seem to be doing fine.
