That wind has been numbing my ears. But wow. I didn't think it was blowing that strong. I don't think I'm that far from you either.

How close are you to that place?

That wouldn't even make the news here in Oregon. The forecast for the Oregon coast is usually 40 to 60 MPH with gusts to 80 MPH quite often during the Winter. If you want to read about wind Google "Columbus Day Storm". That was a storm. I was in Jr. High at the time. We were without power for three weeks. The power company brought in out of state repair crews and equipment on railcars. Those guys worked for weeks around the clock to restore power. It took four hours to travel eight miles by car (because of downed trees and powerlines. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I drive by this barn a few times a week, not too far away. I've been watching it lean some over the years. They kept cows under it, which always worried me because the barn didn't look too stable. Part of the roofing was already off which just speed up the deterioration process. I haven't been by it yet, I knew from the picture exactly which barn it was.

A couple years ago the roof blew off of a fairly good barn near me. It was amazing the way the whole roof was just folded over on the other side of the barn. If you had a big crane it looked like you could have lifted it and folded it right back over, but they fixed it right with a new roof on the whole side.

I love old post frame barns. I hate to see them get run down, but I know they take a lot of money and maintenance to keep them in good shape. I had a chance once to buy a small farm with a run down house and a nice bank barn, wished I had bought it. I would love to have an old post frame barn to tear down and rebuild, if it wasn't too big.

Your not too far away from me. I've actually been looking for some land down your way but a little further south, maybe shenandoah co or below. I told my wife the other day I have a 100 acre appetite with a 5 acre budget. :)
