I insulated my 42'x60' (x12-14') pole barn recently and need to buy a new propane barn heater. The kind you suspend from the ceiling and hangs about 9 ft high. I need to hire the work out rather than do it myself. What brands furnace barn heaters have others used and had good luck with? I don't know anything about these.

Caan anyone offer advice, experience or maybe brand names or prices? Any information appreciated.

Modine is all I have ever used... Have had multiple NG unit in our work warehouse, a Propane unit we installed in my brothers home shop, & I'm currently running (2) of there hydronic unit at our home. All of them have been flawless.

If it matters, this is the heater I planned to use until I learned it was top vent only. That means I would have to cut a hole in my roof and I'm not doing that. It cannot be converted to side vent on this model.

I recently installed a suspended propane heater in my 40'x60' barn and ended up going with a Mr. Heater Big Maxx. It’s been rock‑solid and heats up the space fast. I had mine professionally hung and plumbed, and I highly recommend hiring someone experienced with propane units.

Another brand worth considering is Fahrenheat. They're reliable and often used in workshops.

On a side note, while researching smaller indoor systems, I came across an EdenPure heater. It's electric and great for garages, but might not cut it for heating large barn spaces. Might be good as a temporary or additional heating device.

If you're going to hire it out, call the local HVAC places and see what they say. Get a couple quotes. They will undoubtedly provide a suitable unit as part of the job.

I did just that and wound up with a Reznor unit from a local guy I know. He's a hard worker and did a great install with attention to detail. It will work for my intentions.
