<font color=red> A 3/4" cold water line from the house will be installed. It may terminate at a frost-free
hydrant outside the building with provisions for connection inside if I ever decide to heat
the building 24/7.
<font color=black> I put two hydrants inside my 30 X 40 foot pole barn. One is in the 3' wall space
between the two overhead garage doors & the other is against a side wall with a single
utility sink under it. I attached a valve to the end of the spigot so that I can leave the
lever up & regulate the flow of water to wash hands etc. Just remember to open valve &
close lever in freezing temps.

Bill & Ron, thanks for the input. The "barn" Wifey likes has a pitched roof. I gotta get a pic and post it. The gambrel makes more sense when trying to get usable square footage on the upper level. She's a reasonable gal, and I expect she will accept a gambrel.

Bringing the water inside is a good idea. One of the things we can look into is a grinder pump as a potential fix in case of a toilet. Our septic system is uphill from the barn site, and the house is in between. If we pump, it will eliminate routing problems.

That barn sounds like about the size we'll end up with. I've been doing some net surfing, and came across a few interesting sites already.

One thing I need to do is a rough layout on the site to see just how much grading will be required. There's a slope, but till I shoot some grades, it's hard to tell how much it will affect things. Thanks guys........................chim

do it .... you're where I was just a very few years ago .... ya know what? GRANDKIDS are noisy -- and they'll be there before you know it ... it'd be a great play area for 'em
