What's the line these days on keeping batteries it the refridgerator? I have some alkali batteries that I've had in the 'fridge for quite a while and some from the same lot in the flashlight. The batteries in the flashlight have been there for a year and a half, at least, and seem fine. Is it still recommended to chill them or did that go away with the old "leak in six months, no matter what" batteries?

I don't have a clue if it helps them or hurts them. But, my wife believes it helps them, so our spare fridge is well stocked with batteries, and I find it's one of those things where it's best not to confuse her with facts, so I quit worrying about it.
