How long have you have had an automotive battery last ?

Reason I ask is, The original toyota battery in my son's 2007 Toyota Tundra just stopped working today !

I have never had a battery last more than 5 yrs

I also tend to be in the five year range for automotive batteries. Your Toyota experience sounds exceptional to me.

I did have an Optima tractor battery last fourteen years.

son took it to Advance for a new one. He said guy told him that's the oldest he had seen.
Of course, the guy may have only worked there for a short amount of time

I know it's the oldest I have seen, and I have been replacing batteries for a looooong time

I normally figure a five year life is good for an automobile battery - especially oem. I have had an Interstate battery in a tractor live over twelve years.

Recently replaced the battery in my pickup.
It was 13 years old.
The previous battery lasted 10.

My '07 TOYOTA HILUX ute is still on its original battery... at least it's the same battery that was in it when I bought it (previously 'loved') in early 2012.

I guess 7 yrs isn't all that uncommon.

I'm 61, and have never gotten over 5 years out of a battery. Whether it came with the vehicle new,or buying replacement

The reason I was amazed when my son told me he was having to replace his original battery in his 07 toyota

I had an '07 Tundra for 12 years. I replaced the battery once at nine years. My wife's Subaru OEM battery only lasted 3 years, but the Subaru batteries have a reputation for being junk. The original battery in my Kubota B7500 lasted 10 years.

Vw Jetta's was 11 years old when I changed it. Didn't go bad, I just got nervous it would, because I never had a battery last that long.
Then again, all my previous vehicles were bought used, and I also never had to replace a battery...once I replaced the (original) battery.

I think how you use a battery (or not use a battery) is more important than its age.
Car is started at least 5 days a week, twice a day, for 35 minutes at a time. So it gets regularly charged, and doesn't suffer from deep discharges (either by use or non-use).

I had a jell cell battery in my previous tractor for eleven years. It actually didn't fail - I just got really nervous and replaced it. Otherwise, about seven years is normal for me. I have a huge, massively high amp rated Odyssey in my tractor now. Hope I can get ten years or so out of it.
