The original (?) Battery Minder is presently on sale - $27.51 including shipping.

I have a CamelCamelCamel pricewatch going for this, and its rarely this low. They sold a lot of them over $40 (+ shipping) in the past.

I like this unit. Maybe its my imagination but it seems to have restored a battery several years old to now hold a full charge far longer.

It is not your imagination, those little maintainers are worth their weight in gold. Quick chargers are death on batterys. If one can't wait long enough for the 1-2 amp charger to recharge a large dead battery, use a 5-10 amp if at all possible to preserve the battery. That's a good price,I'm ordering one eventhough I have 2 already that are connected to something all the time.

Did you click the link I posted?
NT ships the ones listed on Amazon. You can't buy it 'on Amazon' without the shipping cost:
$19.99
$7.52 delivery: June 23 - 28
So as m1garand762 noted, you can buy it in person at TSC or Walmart to get one without the shipping surcharge.

New model vs old? What is improved? I can't find the prior thread on these but what I thought I recalled reading then, was that this older (and less expensive) model had been dropped by retailers and Northern Tool mailorder was the last available source. It's good to learn they are still in the stores.

I think that the reason you can't find them there is that older model is no longer in the supply chain.

I use an older model 12248 Battery Minder (about $175 or so many years ago) & in April I asked their tech dept. if they had more of that model. They said it had been replaced by another with essentially the same features - the 128CECI. ($200)

Both of those models have a way to select different type of batteries and & claim to have more sophisticated circuitry....than just a maintainer, but it is confusing when I go to the Battery Minder website and don't see anything there offered at anywhere near the Amazon price.

One thing for sure is that my old 12248 Battery Minder has paid for itself many times over by recovering batteries that I thought were completely shot.

This Spring it recovered a battery that had been left in a car with the key on for 6 weeks. That battery was so dead the charger said it had a polarity reversal. It took a week for the Battery Minder to bring it up to charge. I've now been using it for a couple of months & seems fine.
