Hello all,

Long time since I post in the forum. I have been doing a bit of traveling, which has kept me away from my toys :( ...but now I am back!

I did what I could to keep my Chinese battery going for two winters, but now is time to get something better for my JM284 (2006 model). I was wondering if I could get some recommendations from you guys. It gets pretty cold here in Colorado's Front Range so cold cranking power is important for me. Have any of you tried the EverStart MAXX-65S from Walmart?. It scored well here ConsumerReports.org - Auto batteries, Ratings

Thanks!

Tanks MrJimi. The warranty on the Walmart one is really good too. Any specific models you can recommend for the 284?

:D I have no idea what a 284 is, I measure my battery and draw a little picture where the connecting terminals are and get the most CCA
:) :)

Sorry, I assumed everyone knows the Jinmas in this forum :p The 284 is one of the most popular Jinma tractors. Good value, but horrible battery!

Thanks for your help

I have a Case 1845 C skidsteer :D and I make lots of different attachments and lots more to come, I'm slowly working on a 7' wide rake that will also grapple.
Check out my 2 galleries

Some Jinmas have the battery tray right in front of the radiator. This impedes airflow AND promotes clogging of the radiator fins behind the battery. So when the battery is up front, the shorter the better. A very good battery in this respect is the Group 49. Even better is the Group 93. I have one of those on my KM454. It's like a Group 49 on steroids.

Walmart doesn't carry either. Interstate makes both, but be prepared for sticker shock. AutoZone carries a cheaper version of the 49, but I personally recommend the Interstate. Make sure what you buy fits in the battery tray. The physical measurements and amp ratings are here: Automotive Batteries - Product Features

I put in a 31P battery in my 2003 model. It has the battery mounted out front below the radiator. It was a good fit and had the same type of post that the OEM battery had. I am guessing it is a Group 31 and the P stands for post. I am lucky, I have a battery factory down the road 6 miles. I took the battery to them and told them what it was for. They sell new batteries out the back door cheap. I paid $35. I bought 4 deep cycle batteries for my big boat and they were the same price.

Thats great info Greg, thanks! I looked at mine and the battery tray is in front but under the radiator so I don't think that should be a problem. I will look into the Interstate at the local retailer.

Wow, that's really cheap! I will most definitively have to spend more than that :-(

Thanks for the info
