Has anyone had any experience with the mulcher from baumalite? The mulcher only cost 9k and looks a little on the lite side too but I'm curious as to how well it actually works and if it would hold up in the woods day in and day out. Don't want to throw my money away if it would be better invested somewhere else.

FWIW, here's a link to their site:

Looks light duty to this novice, in comparison to what I've lurked and looked at in this forum previously....

I ran that head on a Tak 130. Its pretty neat, for $9000. It does not compare to one of the larger heads on a larger machine. Kind of reminds me of the production from a small flail mower, up to 3" material. It's ok if you only have a low flow machine and want to be able to mulch instead of cut (Like an ambusher...)

Well put Landwise. I think it would be a great head for a private owner for a ranch or personal use. I think you would destroy it in commercial use. Plus 104 teeth, that's alot of work.

I've seen it at a trade show. Looks like an okay piece of equipment....but all those teeth. Talk about a time-consumer when it comes to changing out teeth.

Gyro Trac has a low flow head.....have you considered that one?

Thanks for all the input. I saw that gyrotrak had a low flow model but I'm thinking now it would be a waste of money for my intentions. Robbie is right, it would probably be good for use around the farm and such but keeping it in the woods day in and out would be bad for its health. Besides, time=money when you bid by the job and I can't see that low flow being nearly as productive as a head that runs off double the hydraulic flow. I'll keep my low flow machine for brush cutting, clean up, and dirt work but I know I'll need a new unit when I get into mulching. Robbie, what machine have you found most productive when running a head from dennis cimaf? Or does it matter as long as you have the required hp and hyd. flow? If I'm not mistaken I believe you need at least 40 gpm hyd. flow to run one of those heads on a skid steer. Just curious. Also, I'm thinking of going with a hammer style head with carbide teeth since they don't require sharpening, I just hope I don't end up needing a fine product for my customers. All in all, every piece of equipment has its pros and cons...I guess you have to make the best decision possible and learn from it whether it be right or wrong.

Our high flow head needs atleast 30 gpm and 3000 psi. From there on it's extra. I have found that most high flows are "close" in hyd H.P. and our head makes the best use of that. I didn't find much difference between the 92ish h.p. 297C and the 82 H.P. 256C. 10 H.P. doesn't sound like much but that's 10% on these tractors. When we tune the head to the tractors it really shows.
Sharpening... I would rather sharpen dailly and be able to cut the same everyday. Verses after 100 hours the carbides round off and waste h.p. and leave spriggs everywhere. Plus chip size is much better with one pass.
