Someone in czech republic has a BCS 705 for sale including the PTO trailer.
Malotraktor Kultivátor BCS 705 VT-88 ACME 480 cc 15-HP 4x4 - Strakonice, prodám (1000€ / $1100)
It looks all newly painted- i assume its in working order but i haven't called yet. Does anyone know whether this older model BCS can drive newer attachments like berta rotary plow, power harrow, powered spader, etc?
If the thing is in working order, and could power new attachments, then the price is right for me.

The BCS 705 was made by Grillo back in the 70's. It is essentially a Grillo 131, which is still sold new today. I'm 99% sure you can still get parts and attachments for it. Berta, Rinaldi (Power harrow manufacturer), and Tortella (spader manufaturer) make their attachments adaptable to fit any brand and model of walk-behind. The Grillo 131 is the best model available for use on a reciprocating spader.

I'd say the price is spectacular if it's in good condition. I'd give triple that were it here in the US. It has the powered trailer!

Thanks. I'll get my wife to call and pry more into the condition of this one. But what is fuel consumption like with this Acme VT-88 engine? I'm perhaps also now a bit spoiled by the fairly quiet, pretty clean burning, new Honda engine on my Vari. I'd hate to be choking on the exhaust of a 4 decade old engine-- I wonder how it is. I just realized now it was gasoline, not diesel. If it were a diesel engine, I could at least burn sunflower oil in the warm months, which is usually about 30% cheaper here than diesel fuel (no off-road diesel is sold here, so excise tax has to be paid... :-( )

The 4x4 capability would be a real help. Today I hauled some freshly debarked black locust fence posts (approximately 10, ranging from 8" diameter down to 2" diameter) up a 12% slope to where I'll need them tomorrow. The Vari barely made it. Of course, there is a notice on the transmission "slope accesibility: 7%", so I guess I should be happy, no?

Well, it took the wife 4 days to get around to calling, and by that time someone else also saw it was a great value. Oh well. Maybe I'll get lucky and another will come along, or else later this summer will be a road-trip to Italy...
