I can start the engine and it will run at almost any speed for about 5 minutes. Then it starts to surge and finally quits.
I have cleaned, soaked, and rebuilt the carb several times and it keeps doing the same thing. I have been able to hold the governor lever open when it starts to surge but eventually it just quits again.
If it sits for a while it will re-start and then do the same thing again. The fuel line is open as I am able to drain the tank by removing the hose from the carb, this tells me that it is not the gas cap as has been posted in other threads.
The surging seems to indicate a carb problem but it runs strong for about five minutes before acting up. It might be the coil but I don't know where that is or how to check it. When it surges it is not like turning a switch on and off (electrical). its more like running the throttle up and down. When it is surging there is some misfiring on occasion.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Where can I get another carb for this beast if needed?
