Success! I finally got the PTO shaft out of its socket. I was giving it a few wacks with a hammer, per the instructions from EarthTools download, and not getting anywhere, so I looked at tools that I had purchased when working on the front end of my pickup. The pictured tool with the cut out washers did the trick.View attachment 604852View attachment 604853

That's incredible how well that tool fits this problem. Perfect fit!

It's a tie rod end puller from a set of tools. That one didn't work for my pickup, but it wasn't a waste! Using a 1/8" center punch to start knocking the roll pin put was a big help, too. (I now have a 1/8" roll pin punch that has the raised area to center it on the pin helps, also). The plain 1/8" punch was only good for one strike before having to recenter the punch. The point kept it centered. Now that it's all de-rusted and lubed up, it works fine with the broken swivvel (I'm sure that it's rusted on, too, so the tie rod puller will help seperating it as well.

Good to know - hope I'll never need it

The 2-leg puller I used in reply #7 did the job for me despite not much to attach to, that ball-joint puller is a lot better.

I was unable to get my 2 arm puller to hold onto the edge. I think that if I'd used the cut out washers, it might have given me something better to grab. I'm not going to find out, though, because the tie rod end separator worked so well. I may go down to my oldest son's next weekend, so I'll tackle the 732 at that time.
