Be Careful with listings on the internet

I know another guy was selling a tractor and had one of these scams come up. I get them quite a bit and here's the latest one. Conversed with lady for about a week on buying some corriente cows. She said she wanted to go ahead and get them. Here is the email that I got:

Thanks for the mail,your said amount is okay by me.As at now i am not in the state but in the united kingdom so i told a debtor of mine that owes me the sun of $3,000.00 to mailed you a cashier,s check for the amount that she owes.Provide me with your full name your phone number, and address so that the payment will be mailed out to you on time.i will like you to deduct your part.And i will tell you what to do with the remainder of the money.Please let me be hearing from you.

You can just send me my $650. I don't want to mess with anything else.
What are you going to do with one corriente if you are in the UK?

Yea I thought the same thing Chuck. But I wasn't thinking third world country. I was thinking some older woman that didn't have an education. Now that I know the angle I'm sure you're right that it is someone from a third world country.

Last year, our local news carried a story about a secretary for a legal firm that was up for stealing several million dollars from the firm. Seems she needed the money to help this guy in Nigeria who had a lot of money to get out of the country and only needed cash from her to cover the bribes and such and was going to pay her right back along with a nice additional wad of cash...

Why do they keep running these scams? Because it pays.

I get that Africa scam on my computer at work. Kinda sad considering it is a govt. computer, with supposedly all sorts of filters, personnel screening and firewall stuff.

The sad part is that the people who fall for it really, really believe they are doing the right thing. If I recall right, the legal secretary swore through her trial that the guy was going to pay her back.
