Bee Keeping / Evicted

Well, I had some Bee's living in my house for a little over a year now. I called a local Bee Keeper, and he came and took the Bee's home with him. A photo web page of the event. I thought it interesting and figured ya'll might want to see the event.

good pictures: who repaired your house? i have kept bees on an off for 27 years, but stay away from trying to get them out of a house: looks like they did a good job of getting them all out..

Did he charge you or were the bees payment enough?

A small fee. In my book. Eradication quotes were obnoxious to the point I would get stung a few hundred times to not pay them.

The keeper was more than nothing but far from waht I would term expensive. He quoted me a sliding range, and charged the minimum.

I'll repair the house. He did a nice job of popping it open. For some reason when I think demo , I dont think in such a controlled fashion as he did. ;-) I really like sledge hammers!!!!

All in all a vary good experience. He threw some really foul smelling acid (on a rag) in the old hive. It keeps them out. The Bee's he didnt get (a cup or two) hang out on the brick next to the whole. He said 3-5 days and they would wonder off... So far Day 3 and half of them appear to have moved on.

I iwll go back and recaulk the entrances after a few more days and seal it back up. I need to replace all of the siding soon. I have wood peckers outside my window..... The siding is about 34 years old and wasnt maintained for a few years before I bought the house. It was freshened up when it went on the market. So it is holding up, but needs to be replaced eventually..... Just when that is, is the real question.

the bees left behind are going to die anyway, so if you want to speed things up, use a hose end sprayer with a little bug killer, and go ahead and get rid of them..did he leave the rag with the bad smelling stuff inside the wall, and if so, can you smell it inside?

Nah, you cant smell it inside....

Bee's are almost gone. No reason to waste $2.00 on a can of spray.
