Bee smart, don't run off a bridge with a bee in your shorts

Which do you think hurt more? Getting a bee sting or falling off a bridge?

I've had wasps fly down my shirt and sting me repeatedly while on a motorcycle. You just stay calm and get off the road and stop. This guy obviously over-reacted.

A Paradise man was injured Tuesday morning after falling 15 feet into a dry creek bed when his motorcycle hit a guardrail on County Road 3470. Terry Himes, 57, lost control of his motorcycle after a bee flew up his shorts. He panicked and swerved into the guardrail, flipped forward off his bike and fell onto his back about 15 feet below the bridge. His injuries did not appear life-threatening, and he was wearing a helmet. Members of Paradise Volunteer Fire Department and Wise County Medics pulled Himes out of the creek after strapping him into a sled. Himes was transported by ground to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur.

Down the shirt might be fun, but up the shorts could be challenging. I motorcycled for a few years and never did get brave enough to wear shorts.

Yeah - I ride

. Even an ATGATT guy like me has been stung by a wasp. If you have just a 1/4" square of exposed skin, they seem to be able to find it, even at 60mph. Murphy didn't overlook the motorcyclist.

This guy was lucky, many bridges around here aren't that low of a rise.

He was probably OK because he was wearing the legendary Corona tank top !

I had a red wood wasp fly into my helmet and sting me behind the ear when I was a teen. I saw it coming, it was like it was in slow motion. I locked the brakes up but concentrated on getting the bike stopped safely. Another time a yellowjacket flew down my shirt. By the time I got stopped, my shirt was in shreds and I got stung 4 times.
