Been given the "Go Ahead"

Well, the wife has finally given into my whining and approved the purchase of a tractor. I've settled on the TC45DA that I found locally on the used market. It has rear remotes, filled tires, QA bucket, and SS. I've offered $18,000, but have yet to hear back from the owner.

I'm going to also buy a BH. The NH 758C is the likely choice. Any suggestions will be helpful.

This might get a little confusing with a user name of Kubotasrking and now you're wanting to buy a New Holland?

Actually that's a fine tractor you're considering, but for anyone to have an opinion, they would need to know a bit more, such as age, number of hours, overall condition, tire wear, paint, whether fluids might need changing, service records availability, etc. Just on the limited information we have, $18k would sound like a pretty good deal.

I'll tell you what I know..(limited due to getting over some earlier-in-life confusion about tractors). The tractor is 2004 vintage, 390 hours, hardly any tire wear, paint is good..even in the bucket, and has been regularly serviced by the dealer who sold it to him. I've not checked the battery area for damage I've read about in other TC 40 and 45s though. I'll keep you posted on whether or not they take the deal..I'm hoping so.

Guess I'm going to have to create a new handle eh?

Sounds like a good deal on the tractor.
Do not let anyone give you a hard time about owning a BLUE tractor and having Kubota in your name. Just be sure to wear your Orange TBN hat.

Robert, thanks for the additional info. That tractor sold for around $25,000 when it was new. If you get it for $18,000, then I'd say you got one heck of a good deal. If the dealer counters with anything below $20,000, then I think you have to consider that too. You might be able to work a deal with the backhoe, but if you include that in this deal, it kinda "muddies the waters" on value. I'd hope someone who has a 758C would chime in and give you a good ballpark for a new price on one of those.

Don't forget to lift the hood and check the condition around the battery. That's just a standard check on these tractors. Good luck!

I bought a 758 backhoe in 1987. I think back then it was about $6,000. I used it hard for years until I traded it in 2001 (well used, what people on hear might call beat, for $3850). BTW, I love my backhoes, and use them almost as much as my loader. Makes me many times more productive. Renting one has never been an option for me.
