Belarus 2011 Hydro system uses engine oil ?

Hi New guy here.
I have had a Belarus 2011 for a few years.
I have not changed the hydro fluid and was looking
in the manual. The manual states that regular engine
oil is used for the hydro system.
Is this normal ?

If you have an original manual for that tractor, and it specifies motor oil, then that is normal for that tractor. Case and New Holland skidloaders have used 10w-30 motor oil in their hydraulic/hydrostatic systems for years. Remember, you have an unsophisticated machine designed for use in adverse climates with the barest of product support.

Yes, this is normal. My FIAT tractor use motor oil in hyd/tranny too. Later models were filled with hydro/trans universal oil, so you can fill it with it too.

My Belarus 420AN used engine oil in the hydraulic system (10w30 or straight 30 I think). The Belarus tractors are a funny animal, from my experience. Good luck with your machine.

My Gravely specifies (and is what I used when I changed it) use of 10w30 motor oil for the transmission.

Yes I have the original manual. I also understood that
they were designed for hard work in remote areas,with
little support.

I have a Belarus 570 and always used Hydraulic fluid without any problems. Discussed with some Aeronautical engineering folks before I changed and they indicated that the Hydraulic fluid had properties that were more compatible with the hydraulic system than motor oil.
Yes, The Belarus manual does recommend 30w motor oil but as some of the other folks have stated these machines are designed to be used and maintained in a severe environment with minimum tools and without duplication of resources. My thoughts are, use whatever you want as they both appear to work well.

It's not uncommon for older or older design based equipment to use engine oil in the tranny and hyd's. We have some old cat equipment that takes 30w oil all around.
