I have the chance to buy a Belarus T42LB with 451 hours on it (yes, 4 Hundred + hours, NOT 4000) - it is (I think) about 7 years old. The Backhoe is a Kelly B70, the Front Loader is a Kelly DL 3000 - Is there anyplace I can get an idea of how much this is worth, and what I should offer him? He is a friend, so I don't want to screw him too badly... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I take it the base tractor is a LTZ 420?

As for price........$5,000-7,000 on the high side as a unit. You can buy real TLBs in that price range.

Tim, I don't know what the part of the country you're in, but do you know anything about the Belarus? Do you know where, or even IF, you can get any parts for it if you need them? We used to have a Belarus dealer in our area. He also sold Kubotas, and of course now, no more Belarus. When they were new, he was trying to sell them for approximately half what a comparable sized John Deere would sell for. I've met some of the Belarus owners and a mechanic friend worked on the Belarus tractors, and I have to assume there are some happy owners, but I never met a Belarus owner who wasn't trying to unload his on someone else. Your friend may give you a good deal, but from what I've seen caveat emptor.

The decals on the engine cover say "T42 LB" - I believe that makes it a T42 (420?). Are the Kelly L/B worth anything in this? I was hoping the Kelly stuff was as much of the value...

I am in S NY State (NOT the city- gag - although it would be fun to drive the tractor in NYC - but I am getting sidetracked) - we had/have a local dealer (hour away), but I believe he was getting his parts from Milwaukee. I do know the tractor personnaly (don't read into that) - as I have put a bit of the hours on the machine - I know that most of the parts that have ever been needed are pins & hoses for the L/B, etc. My biggest problem is that, this is really MUCH too big of a tractor for my needs (my friend is moving), but I dont' think I could get a sub-compact (the size I need now) for TWICE what I would pay for this....and this is a full (35 hp) tractor.....
I should really just drop the whole thing, but I need a tractor (well, really really really want...)

you see very few of them around(wonder why) i did some research on them a few years back, and some of the stuff i read was not favorable.parts availabilty was one, you may be able to get normal parts but if u need a unusual part u may have a problem. if it was me i would tell your friend the tractor is to big for your needs and pass on it. but the final decision is yours.

I have to agree with Frank. The research I did on them didn't cast them in a favorable light. I would steer away. This one might be a jewel...then again it might not. You should let the risk lower your offer considerably.

I ditto the "pass on the belarus" A good friend bought one at an auction with low hours on it and had nothing but problems. If you like to get your tools out frequently and dont mind the down time its great. Just my two cent opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Silly idea perhaps, but if you can buy it for what the loader and backhoe are worth used, absent any tractor, you couldn't go wrong. Use it a little and see if you like it, and if not, pull the hoe and loader, and sell the tractor for a couple thousand bare and you will have very little invested in the loader and hoe. Then find a bare Kubota, JD, NH, Kioti, Branson or whatever and mount these up. Of course you would need mount and hydraulic kits, so that could get expensive. Just a thought.
