Anyone use a belly mowe on a YM? and if so what size can a 1700 handle? 60" or so? Are NEW aftermarket units available any longer or should I just be looking at a good quality finish mower? Anyone have information on mfg that I could look at different options?

Continental-belton KTR60 should fit. I picked one up for my YM2000B but still need to get chains for it.

Bruce, I've never seen something like that. I am guessing it attaches to the belly of the tractor but runs off the rear PTO? If so, that is an interesting idea for those who want belly mowers with no mid PTO.

Yup,
Runs off rear PTO, 3 pt. attachment, has chains to suspend from under tractor. This is not a photo of mine, this one is 48". Mine does not have the front wheels, and you can just back up onto it to mount instead of wrestleing it under the tractor. Yanmar sold these under their name as well, but they were Continental-Belton, made in Texas, parts still available. Len Shaffer is a good source of parts and info.

I saw one of those before. How do they cut? I will do some research and see what I can find on them. Cost? Where do you mount the chains on the tractor? Is there a bracket or fab?

thanks,
Bill

I have a Woods 60" under my F16d and it runs it just fine.

The continental looks interesting. My woods runs off of the rear PTO, but it mounts a big pully directly onto the PTO shaft. Not nearly as easy to remove as the continental.

The chains on my Woods are available at Tractor Supply, they are a generic chain (note, not a typical logging chain).

Chain set-up should be a fairly straight forward Fab, I have not checked to see if anyone has any available yet.

I would really like to find something like this for my YM1700 in a 60" cut. I keep checking ebay and craiglist. I once found a site for Woods that showed different models they made for other tractors, 8n,farmall's etc and those could be adapted one way or another.

I would just feel better with a belly mower than a RFM.

The Sitrex Mower works very well. I've used the Belly & RFM.

I have a rear mount PTO reverserver to send the PTO power back under the tracter to a MMM. It attaches directly to the PTO then a belt provides power to the mower. Problem is that it was designed to bolt directly to another Yanny. I planned to modify to fit my 1500 but just never got around to it. I can send a pic if interested. I don;t know how available/common they are or if you could make one with a normal bush hog type gearbox. I also have a worn MMM but would also have to lengthen my YM1500's wheelbase to use it. It all cam with undercarraige mounting brackets, cables etc. Seems like a nice set-up. Maybe someday I'll get around to it!

Let me know if you want a pic..maybe it will help your ideas
