making old new

I have a 1944 sears and robucks corn hammer that was belt driven the pully is gone was wanting to make it work off pto but not sure what size pullys i need to go from 540 rpms on the tractor to the i think it says 3200 rpm on the hammer any suggestions

Drive pulley needs to be 5.92 times the diameter of the driven pulley. This can be more easily accomplished in two steps (belts & pulleys, chains & sprockets, or gears) or with a 6 to 1 gearbox. Speed increasing gearboxes aren't as common as speed reducing gearboxes. Geared speed reducers generally cannot be used in reverse as speed increasers. Sounds like it might even be better driven directly by gas or electric motor of a closer RPM range. What HP do you think you need? Miked74T

Could you post a pic, I do not see any problem with your request. We just need to know the HP range required to run this machine.

I grew up with a belt driven hammer mill and tractor pully about 12" and the mill pully about 6" tractor engine ran at fast idle not top speed. so PTO speed was about 540 rpm. Wonder about the need for 3200 rpm.
Seem fast for the mill.

i will put up some pics sorry took so long to get back been busy on the farm we make all our feed was getting low made about 4000 pounds i got the 3200 rpm on the hammer mill from the plate on the side i thought it was fast too but i have not messed with on like this before
