Belt on 42\" snowthrower.....extremely tight!

Hi guys,
well, it's the official sign of winter, I swapped out my mower deck for my snowthrower. But, in following the install instructions to the letter (newbie.... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif), the last thing they have you do is install the belt from the pto to the drive pulley for the thrower. I already had the thrower secured into place, and when I went to put on the belt, I had to turn the thrower drive pulley to get it on it was so tight. should it be that tight or should i have set it on the pullet before I slid the thrower into it's final position with the mounting channels flush with the receptacles? This is probably the method I will use to take it off next time as well as when I mount it again next year...but just wondered if the belt being so tight is going to cause an issue, or will it stretch and work itself out as I use it?

Mojo- I'm thinking if you were able to get the belt on by rolling the pulley (by hand), it's perfect!

G/luck

yep, that's what I did, it worried me only because #1) I didn't want to scar the belt by doing that and #2) I've always thought belts that are too tight are a bad thing

I won't worry about it now though, but the dealer had the idler arm pulley spring attached to the wrong side (they have it attached to the left side), so I have to switch that over to the right hand side and I'm ready for the snow! (well except for tire chains) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
