I had a belt problem too, but I ate less and exercised and now they fit fine.
On a more serious note, if you are seeing one fine wear line follow it through every pulley and inspect very very closely. I had one on a different mower and did the same, I found one pulley had a slight misalignment due to being stepped on (not me) and after replacing that one pulley all was good. If you cannot trace it and have another belt, spray paint the belt with black paint, install it, run it for a few seconds and then take it off looking at where the paint is left behind and where its missing from the belt.
