Guys,
Silly question but I can not seem to stop belt slipping and squeal. When ac under load we noticed it. So we have replaced the compressor and more on the ac system. We have the belts from fan to ac and fan to alt as tight as we can get them short of putting a porta power on them. New belts. Belt dressing helps temporary. All components, ie, alt, fan etc, seems fine and free. I feel stupid but any advice? TN75DA

I'll be following this thread because I'm having similar problems with my drill press and Snapper Rider. Someone said the other day, that slipping belts glaze over causing more slipping. I believe they mentioned worn faces on the pulleys being the cause. If all of this is true, it seems that one problem exacerbates the other.

take the belt out and lightly sand the mating surface, do the same with emery cloth on the pulleys to see if that helps. take a straightedge to see if pulleys edge line up.

Pulleys are worn out due to hours , slippage from loose belts and wear form dirt . Check alignment while under tension, any sideways or angle twist will reduce pulley contact area .
Cheapo belts will also slip .
