CC LT 1046
Hello all! I just purchased a CC LT 1046 and so far I'm pleased with my purchase. I have about 4.5 hrs on it and I've noticed that when I engage the pto at full throttle it squeals for about a second or so. It's a little disconcerting but it cuts just fine. Is this normal or am I being paranoid? Any assistance would be much appreciated! Thanks for your time and consideration.

Idle down engine before engaging PTO; will save belt and in case something is under mower you may not break something. as soon as PTO engages, throttle up to max and mow.

I was told by my local dealer to lower the deck to cutting height before engaging the PTO. Something about lessening the belt angle and reducing belt wear and chance of breaking or throwing the belt.

Another recommendation he made was to throttle up to full before turning the key off then throttle down as the engine died. This keeps it from backfiring when turning the engine from mid-throttle position.

Thank you for the information. The belt didn't squeal during my first couple of uses, this is something that I just noticed. My deck is at it's lowest position when I engage the PTO. I'll try idiling down before hand, maybe that will help. Thanks again.

Squeal upon PTO engagement is how it is. Electric clutches cause the PTO to go from nothing to full out in one quick burst. Good idea in lowering the deck first. The deck drive belt will be better aligned with the pulleys. I did have the belt jump off once on my 2544 engaging the PTO with the deck full up.

My neighbors 1024 is getting worse with the squeal. Its squealing for sometimes up to 5 seconds. But the reason is because of that ridiculous reverse pto kill switch. He backs up so **** much that he's going to burn that belt up. I told him I disabled my reverse pto kill switch as I wasn't going to kill that pto with all the backing up I had to do. Glad to see they finally came around with the REV thing on last years models. A little squeal is going to happen, its like dumping the clutch on a car at high rpms and smokin the tires. You also don't want to be doing that all the time either, beats the **** out of your belt and the pto, imo.

When the belt is new, it rarely squeals but after a few hours it may develop a "glaze" on it, which is just caused by normal wear and light slippage. This makes the belt not grab as well as it use to when the PTO is engaged.

It should only squeal for a second and is normal, anything more and you probably have a loose/overly worn belt. Find out what wore the belt out prematurely before replacing it!
