Bent Guard on L5740

I have searched all of the online parts manuals with no luck finding this part number. It is the guard that protects the tie rod on the front left wheel. It mounts to the axle case with 2 bolts on top, and one on the bottom. The tractor is a 2007 model tractor.

Look at the drawing for the steering cylinder. On my L4240 the # is 35860-62852.

I have bent those guards on my tractor several times. I unbolt it, put it on my anvil horn and beat it to the correct shape again. Then repaint it.

If you have something semi round you can beat it round again and reinstall.

I don't know why Kubota makes those guards so flimsy and too short. If they were longer they would protect the rubber boot when turning.

Here's a thread I posted a while back on those guards. Notice how mine are painted a lighter color. That's after being re-rounded out on the anvil and repainted. I have not had any more rubber boots torn after the addition of the mud flap material. You may want to try doing that, also.

I like your rubber mod there. Even with mine moved in to the nearest position, which exposes the boot, and with the type of tire I have, it still rubs the shield. I will have to do this. Thanks. Philip.

Philip,

When you are making your mud flap boot guard you can make it shorter or longer than the way mine looks. Make it so that it is just short of your tire when turned in.

By the way...I noticed you have a 14" 2 bottom plow. I have been thinking of getting a 2 bottom 16". How does your 14" do? Would it pull a 16"? I have sandy with some clay soil.
