Well, I finally started doing some work with the FEL on my new BX2660. I didn't think I was being too rough with it, but apparently I was. Somehow the right pin came out (the one that you remove to take off the FEL) when I was pushing some logs around and when I hit an unmovable log, the loader shifted left and I knew something was wrong. Apparently when the pin came out and I pushed the log that didn't move it bent the frame main LH (kubota part name) which is the FEL support that is bolted to the frame of the tractor. WOW, couldn't believe it and was sick to my stomach. Lucklily this is a part that bolts on, so either the dealer can straighten it back out or put on a new one. With this bent I could not attach the FEL back to the tractor.

So I took it to the dealer this morning to fix. He thinks Kubota may cover it under warranty. We'll see, but has anyone else had this problem? He asked if installed the pin correctly when I removed and reattached the FEL before and I assume I did, but not sure.

See part No. 10 on this parts diagram

I have had mine for about eight months and use it to haul chat as well as pushing brush and logs from a bad ice storm in February. I also had a BX2200for six years. The only way you can lose a pin is to miss the retention ring, otherwise the pin cannot work itself out. Trust me, I have used mine HARD in the woods as has my son.

TripleR is right on the money, just go out and take another look at were pin came out. visualize now how that pin could have moved out, It can't unless whole tractor is rotated upside down. hey don't beat yourself up, we all sometimes forget and cause mishaps. Hopefully your repairs will be covered by warranty, look on the bright side, that pin will never come out on your tractor again-------unless you take it out.

ouch! I can imagine the sick feeling as well. I just gotta say - there is pretty much no way for pin to fall out, only if you forgot the slide the pin into the loop. for a new machine- the pin would be pretty hard for it to come out due to tight tolerances before it starts to wear down to the point where it slides in and out from repeated removal.

Sorry about the bent part, if the dealer is willing to replace under warranty- then thats great! i rather have new part instead of bending it back since it gotta be perfect so you can take it off and on easily.

Thats no biggy. If you use it much other things will happen.

Below are some things that did or almost bit me.

Watch the low ground clearance over logs, rocks and sticks. Always carry your fel load low. It can be pitchy and roll over if you not paying attention.

Watch your fingers hands feet toes etcc when removing/reinstalling bh/fel and raising the outriggers. Never motor around with parking brake on.

I had the worst habit of doing that... now I seldom use the parking brake.

Same here. During my first year I operated it a lot on a hilly property. It was difficult to tell difference from hydro whine caused by grade and or brakes on. At least thats one conclusion I came to. As my brakes were barely functioning and dealer had to replace internal pads. Major surgery.

Not absolutely sure what caused it but I either did by leaving parking brake on or it came with inoperative brakes. I tried motoring around with parking brakes on and it would easily overcome in low range. I've since learned that on hard packed clay in 4wd lo range theres gobs of low end grunt/pulling power.

I use the pb but have formed a habit of punching the brake pedal with rfoot immediate to pushing hydro pedal, as thats all it takes to release pb.

Well, Kubota replaced the parts under warranty. Dealer thinks I was kinda lucky on that one. Either way, makes me feel good I made the right decision in going with Kubota for my first tractor. :D

Man, it's amazing how easy the front loader attached when everything is aligned properly.:eek:
