Looking at buying a rear mount 3pt pto driven Ber Vac 64" snowblower for my L3400. Quoted $2800. Good deal? Good unit?

Can't speak for price, but the RAD made Ber-Vacs are as good a blower as anyone makes IMO.

I have a Ber Vac 64" and it works like a champ. I have a 2.5 mile driveway and we got 22ft of snow last winter so It gets plenty of work.
As far as the price, I guess it would depend on the condition and how old it is. Mine is a bit older. It was redone by the original owner to like new condition and I only paid $700 for it.

Thanks for the replies! That price is for a new unit from the dealer.

I wouldn't question the quality, You won't regret owning one. Mine doesn't have the chain driving the auger. It is shaft drive which I really like. but, looking that their website, it looks like the new one are chain drive.

I'm also looking at that same model. Did you end up buying it? If so, are you happy with it and did they come down on the price at all?

Made in Quebec, so it has to be good! LOL

I also have a 60" version and it has given me great service.
AS stated, Bervac is now RAD industries and they make many private labels for such as Kubota, Deere etc with different paint schemes.
While not considered industrial or commercial, they do a good job.

Early versions without chain drives but rather a center gear box mounted on the auger shaft are very costly to repair should you damage the box.
Later versions with chain drives are far superior design wise and very cheap to maintain as the only thing that ever goes wrong is a chain replacement which is standard off the shelf just about any where.
Sheer bolts are but grade 5 common bolts.

I'm in the process of getting the 74" model installed on my machine now. I saw it this morning - very nice snowblower. New from dealer, setup, with hydraulic controls for the chute and rotation it was $3800. The hydraulics added about $800 so your price seems comparable.

What size is the sheer bolt on the fan on your B64? Mine is 1/4" on a B51 and it sheers on heavy snow with a grade 5 bolt with 1/2" unthreaded shank. I`m thinking of drilling it to 5/16" & using grade 5 . Augers & fan are heavy, 3/16" steel & gear box is cast iron. Have been using it on 1000 rpm PTO setting but with engine at apx. 1800 rpm so pto is probably 750. Gonna try going slower on heavy snow. I`vo only used it twice & sheared 3 bolts.

You're pushing to hard. Start with lowest possible gear. The blower should not lose any speed if sow isn't higher than blower. If it still breaks the bolt ??? I cut frozen packed snow that slides off the barn. If you modify the shear, you accept all liabilty. For the machine, your buildings, kids, pets etc. when something goes flying. Once you find the right speed for the storm (wet vs powder) then have at it. Mine is a rear-mount. A loader mount can break easier if too much down pressure. Leave it up an jnch or so to get the first pass, then go faster without using the entire width. I run mine w/ a L2250DT 1984, 4speed manual w/hi/lo, 4wd, chains on rear landscape tires. Of the rear PTO. 2,000' gravel drive + 7,000 sq.ft. gravel parking area for equipment. Highest snow on ground 54". Good luck.
