Picked up this Ber-Vac S-51 three point snow blower today. Its a real heavy duty unit. I was looking for a web site to see if I could find a manual for it but i cant seem to find anything about it. Did they get bought out by another company? It was made in Canada

Have same basic blower but in 60".

Well built and rugged but 3 blade fan does not blow all that far. (I contemplate making a 4 blade)
AS the chart (amigauser) shows you want graded bolts for shear bolts.
Hardware bolts bend and tear and causing replacement problems and poor protection while graded bolts shear nice and clean but only upon sudden impact. Hardware (ungraded) simply bend and fail gradually resulting in frequent and difficult replacement.

Be sure the auger shaft is well greased otherwise shear bolts won't protect you. (my 60" zerks for easy lubricating but a 48" did not)
If not well greased rust will form between the augers and shaft and essentially weld the augers to the shaft.

PILOON: Thanks for the info, Is yours direct drive from the PTO ? I was thinking of stepping up the rpm of the rotor by adding a jack shaft and chain & sprockets. What would be a good rpm for the rotor to turn? I was thinkin something like 800 to a 1000 rpm? Any thoughts?

My tractor has 3 speed PTO and I use the middle setting which is about 700 RPM +/- and at that speed snow rarely sticks or clogs and goes a reasonable distance.
4-5 years running like that with no problems.
Another mod I made was to beef up the little legs or supports behind each fan blade as essentially they were like thick tin and never saw paint hence the rusted to the point that they collapsed.
Also welded 2" X approx 10" skids to the existing skids so as not dig in a blow gravel. That works great!

I did try running at 1000 RPM but that's too high and vibration would kill something for sure.

The guy i bought it from had it on a Mitsubishi tractor with the 3 speed pto. Sounds like 700 rpm is the right speed. Thanks for the info!

This is the model sold from Ber-Vac to Yanmar. And Yanmar made many of the JD compact tractors.

Other than the cover page, this is the 100% manual for your machine. S-51.
Yanmar defined it as a YRS-51 as it has the 3PT rear mount setup. This S-51 also comes with a front mount kit too.

Ford, New Holland, Kubota, John Deere, Massey, etc all get the same machine, just different paint jobs. The JD was all JD yellow with a white chute.

Your model is actually the Yanmar/Massey version. Red with a white chute.

The manual is attached below. :)

Hi folks, I have a very similar model, a Ber-Vac SE-51. Does anyone know the difference between the S-51 and if it is the same manual or a different one?
