Best 10-40 year old CUT/SCUT?

Looking for a quality used mini/small 4wd tractor with FEL (when I say 杜ini or 都mall? I知 thinking approximately the size of a Yanmar 2210, give or take). Due to budget reasons (+/- $7k), I致e ruled out the cutsie, modern CUTs & SCUT痴 (JD 1 family, Kubota BX, etc.), . However, I know that Kubota, JD, Yanmar, Massey, New Holland, Mitsi, etc. have all made some mighty fine little tractors in the past 10-40 years, so can you recommend some good, bullet-proof (or close) little tractors that I should consider? Don稚 want hydrostat, but shuttle-shift would be nice?s would power steering, but lack of p/s wouldn稚 be a deal breaker. Thank you in advance for the info.

I would vote John Deere 790 - 28ish HP, yanmar 3 cyl diesel engine, gear transmission - pretty bullet proof design

You should have no problem finding exactly what you want...but figure on $8K-$9K for a well maintained, low hour machine...
You really don't want a FEL on a tractor without power steering...

Being persnickety about brands always seemed kind of backwards to me with used equipment. The first thing is to find one that is in good condition, well maintained and not abused. The best one you find that fits your needs would be my first pick, although I'd probably stick with one of the major brands with 20 year old equipment. I'd agree that you'd have more/better to choose from in the $8-10 range, if you can swing it. Much of what's available in smaller equipment the last 15 years has been hydrostatic drive (guessing 75% or more), so you may bypass some otherwise good equipment if you rule it out. Once you get out of lawn mowers and into true SCUT/CUTs, HST's are as reliable as gear trannies. Good luck shopping!

Yanmar made a near bulletproof machine for Deere and themselves. I paid $6K for a 4x4 US spec 276D with FEL 9 years ago. It's been stone cold reliable. It doesn't have power steering, but if this 70 year old can handle it, you probably could also. In really tight spots I lift the front with the FEL and spin the wheel. the Powershift transmission is a joy to use.

I agree, I purchased a 2004 790 in 2011 and it runs great, only one issue that TBN helped me thru, the Fuel Stop Solenoid...... Attached is a PIC when I picked-it-up in ALVA, OK. I sold the Belly Mower, Installed a Ballast Box, purchased the Retrofit Kits to install a JD 59" Front Mount Snow Blower, the JD 419 Front Loader still works great. "Bullet Proof Design"............
